SBRI Healthcare Cancer Competition

Orion MedTech has been awarded funding for a late-stage innovative solution for the front line of cancer detection and diagnosis.

Orion MedTech along with partners Obex Technologies, The NIHR Brain Medtech Co-operative, Cambridge University Hospitals, University of Cambridge Engineering Design Centre and Cambridge Data Engineering have been awarded funding by SBRI Healthcare as part of the first SBRI Healthcare Cancer Competition.

The Cancer Toolkit aims to reduce the time taken from first diagnosis of a brain tumour to the beginning of treatment. The Orion digital healthcare platform will be developed to allow improved co-ordination and data sharing between different hospitals within a regional cancer network.  We will further develop a standard way of sharing data between individual hospital systems that can be applied across the NHS without further adaptation.

The award is one of eight innovations funded through a nationwide call by SBRI Healthcare in 2021, in partnership with the NHS Cancer Programme and the Accelerated Access Collaborative,
